Although the Galaxy Tab provides an USB On-The-Go (OTG)  function for users to connect USB joypad, keyboard ,mouse, thumb drive,&#8230; But it equip a custom 30 pins serial data connector, so the users have to buy a special 30pin to USB port connector to connect USB devices.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the pinout of the 30 pins connector (image courtesy of <a href=\"http:\/\/droidangel.blogspot.tw\/2011\/04\/samsung-galaxy-tab-dock-cable-connector.html\" target=\"_blank\">Droid Angel<\/a>):<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/hardware\/android\/samsung_galaxy_tab\/droidangelgxtabpin.jpg\" width=\"520\" height=\"461\" alt=\"pinout of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 30 pins connector\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>Below is the USB OTG cable for Samsung Galaxy Tab, attached a tiny USB micro SD card reader:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/hardware\/android\/samsung_galaxy_tab\/USB_OTG_cable.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"463\" alt=\"USB OTG cable for Samsung Galaxy Tab, attached a tiny USB micro SD card reader\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>And a picture of a 5-in-1 USB memory card reader for Galaxy Tab:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/hardware\/android\/samsung_galaxy_tab\/USB_5_in_1_connector.jpg\" alt=\"5-in-1 USB memory card reader\" width=\"500\" height=\"353\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t like the design of those cables, all I need is a small memory card reader after all. So I took apart of those cables. Here is the inside look of a Galaxy Tab USB charging cable:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/hardware\/android\/samsung_galaxy_tab\/USB_power_cable.jpg\" alt=\"Galaxy Tab USB charging cable\" width=\"500\" height=\"231\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>And here is an inner view of an USB OTG cable, <strong>there is a 20K\u03a9 resistor solder on pin 13 and 15<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/hardware\/android\/samsung_galaxy_tab\/USB_OTG_cable_inside.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"305\" alt=\"USB\u00a0On-The-Go (OTG) cable\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<h4>Tiny USB micro SD card reader disassembled<\/h4>\n<p> This is the most tiny USB micro SD card reader that I could find on local market:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/hardware\/android\/samsung_galaxy_tab\/micro_sd_reader.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"209\" alt=\"tiny microSD reader\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The inside look of the tiny micro SD card reader:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/hardware\/android\/samsung_galaxy_tab\/micro_sd_reader_front.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"195\" alt=\"inner view of the tiny microSD reader\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>And the other side:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/hardware\/android\/samsung_galaxy_tab\/micro_sd_reader_back.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"162\" alt=\"the other side of the tiny microSD reader\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>I desolder the 30 pins USB OTG connector, and soldered it with the tiny USB micro SD card reader.
